Real-time facility incident alerts and task status notifications delivered to your team’s Slack workspace
What It Does
StorageDefender’s Slack integration automatically posts incident notifications and automated task status notifications to your team’s Slack channels when incidents are detected at your self-storage facilities, or notifications of Tasks that need to be completed with links for Users to click and manage. Stay informed without constantly checking dashboards—your team gets alerts where they already work.
How It Works in Slack
Automated Incident Alerts
When StorageDefender’s Smart Unit monitoring system detects motion, climate anomalies, or access incidents, a notification is instantly posted to your configured Slack channel(s).
Automated Task Management Notifications
With StorageDefender’s TaskPro Management, Facility Managers and Operators can be automatically notified of Tasks automatically assigned to Users with status and links to complete the automated tasks.
Customizable Routing
Choose which Slack channels receive notifications—route facility alerts to operations channels, critical incidents to management channels, or configure multiple channels for different facility groups.
One-Way Notifications
StorageDefender posts alerts to Slack but does not monitor or respond to Slack messages. This is a notification-only integration designed to keep your team informed.
No Tenant Communication
This integration is exclusively for facility management teams. No tenant information is shared in Slack, and tenants do not interact with or receive messages from this integration.
Installation Instructions
Note: The StorageDefender Slack integration is available exclusively to organization-level administrators within an active StorageDefender account.
Step 1: Contact Support First
Before connecting to Slack, email support@storagedefender.com with:
- Your Slack workspace name
- The specific Slack channel(s) where you want to receive incident alerts
- Your StorageDefender organization name
Step 2: Support Configuration
Our team will configure your Slack routing settings within 1 business day and confirm when you’re ready to proceed.
Step 3: Authorize Connection
Once support confirms your configuration is ready:
- Log in to your StorageDefender account
- Navigate to Apps in the left sidebar
- Select Slack Integration
- Click Connect with Slack to authorize your workspace
Step 4: Confirmation
Once connected, you’ll receive a test notification in your configured Slack channel confirming the integration is active.
You must have administrator permissions in both your StorageDefender organization and your Slack workspace to complete the authorization step.
Why Contact Support First?
This ensures your incident notifications are routed to the correct channels immediately upon connection. As we expand Slack capabilities, self-service channel configuration will be available directly in the StorageDefender interface.
Example Incident & Task Alert
When an incident occurs, your Slack channel receives a notification like this:

Privacy & Security
StorageDefender collects only the minimum data necessary to deliver notifications:
- Slack workspace and channel identifiers
- Administrator user IDs who configure the integration
We do not access, monitor, or store Slack messages or conversations. All data handling complies with our Privacy Policy.
